Roy Keane has explained his decision to bring Carlos Edwards back to Sunderland.
Wolves were keen to keep Edwards until the New Year, but Keane has decided that the Trinidad & Tobago international is needed on Wearside.
"I just felt it was the right time to get him back," said Keane. "The whole idea of Carlos going out was for him to get some games and he's done that.
"Carlos gives us something a bit different but what he has been lacking over the last few months is match practice because of the bad injury."
Edwards, along with Kenwyne Jones and Dwight Yorke, is not expected back at Sunderland until tomorrow morning after making the long trip back from the Caribbean.
The trio played in T&T's 3-0 win over Cuba in a World Cup qualifier on Wednesday.
"We're still waiting for the lads from Trinidad to come back, it helps that the game is on Sunday," said Keane.
Sunderland's players were given the day off today but will return to training in the morning to prepare for Sunday's game against West Ham at the Stadium of Light.
