Wrexham's Silvio Spann played through the pain barrier against Weymouth on Saturday.

The Trinidad and Tobago international midfielder, brought on as a substitute in the 69th minute, had to have a shoulder put back in TWICE at The Wessex Stadium by physio Mel Pejic after initially colliding with an opponent.

Spann managed to play out Wrexham's 3-1 victory but admitted he was in agony at the final whistle.

"My shoulder came out of its socket twice," said Spann today.

"Their guy smashed into me but it is a contact sport so you have to expect things like this.

"It was very painful, more so the second time.

"But I was determined to play till the end for the team. I had to show my determination.

"Pej asked me if I wanted to come off but that was out of the question and it did not cross my mind.

"I knew I had to finish the game."

Spann had surgery, after dislocating a shoulder, in Brazil last January and he is waiting to see if another operation is required.

"It is very sore right now, although it has eased up a bit," said Spann.
"I have been examined and we will see how it is by tomorrow.

"If I am getting extreme pain I may have to have another operation."
Dean Saunders has enjoyed the most successful start in the league as a new Wrexham manager after winning all five matches.

Having not featured all season under previous boss Brian Little, and placed on the transfer list, Spann has found himself back in favour under Saunders.

And Spann is delighted that Saunders has shown faith in him since taking charge.

"I am enjoying it at the moment and appreciate everything that is going on," said Spann.

"We are winning and it is great to be part of a team that is winning and going in the right direction because I have been at the other end too.

"There is nothing better than playing for a manager who really believes in you.

"I thank god for the manager.

"He has come in and is doing a good job.

"It is a great record and he has got players that want to play for him.

"It does not matter who goes out there, everyone has got the same goal - three points. And if we cannot win, we cannot win. We must not lose.

"We want to keep the run going and we will go to Kidderminster with the same mentality."

Although he is absent for tomorrow's World Cup qualifier, Spann was recalled last month for Trinidad and Tobago and he is delighted to be back in the international fold too.

"It is nice to be back in the Trinidad squad, although it was kind of late," added Spann.

"Although I am not involved in this game, hopefully I will be called up for the next game next year now I am back in the manager's thoughts.

"One of the greatest honours is to play for your country, although I don't like the long flights as I'm always jet-lagged after it."

Assistant manager Terry Darracott hopes Spann, who will have a scan, does not require surgery.

"I know Silvio has had the problem before," said Darracott. "I don't know how serious it is but we will know more this week."
