John Terry and Clayton InceClayton Ince’s return to top form in recent games has triggered speculation that other clubs are interested in trying to prise him away from Walsall.
But Saddlers manager Jimmy Mullen this week revealed that he is not bothered at all by the speculation – only delighted that his No.1 goalkeeper is playing so well.

Mullen is comfortable with the fact that Ince is contracted to Walsall for the rest of this season. As for what happens beyond May, that will be the subject of talks to be held soon between the club and the player’s representatives.

“Any player who is doing well at any club earns attention,” Mullen said. “That’s how the business works.

“If there is interest out there then fine, that’s okay.

‘‘I don’t have a problem with that.

‘‘It means that one of our players is playing well which is what you want.

“Clayton is under contract until the end of the season and he is doing well because he is a good goalkeeper.

“We will be talking to him about the future. We said we would sit down with him and his representatives around this time of the season and that is what we will do.

“I’ll sit down with Paul Taylor, my football consultant, and we will take it from there.”

Walsall goalkeeper Clayton Ince has been targeted by Championship rivals Nottingham Forest and Swansea City.

The 36-year-old Trinidad and Tobago international is out of contract at the end of the season and Walsall have yet to offer him a new deal.

Forest had him watched against Stockport on Boxing Day while Swansea have maintained their interest since having an approach for him rejected earlier in the season.

Ince is unsure what the future holds for him and he said: “At the end of the day it is up to the club what decisions they want to make.

“As a player all I can concentrate on is performing well and staying fit.

“I am happy here, but it is up to the management and Walsall Football Club what happens.”
