#12 Jason Scotland to play in the EPL next season.Sky Sports News sources understand that Wigan have agreed a fee with Swansea for striker Jason Scotland.

The Latics confirmed earlier this week that they had made an offer for the Trinidad and Tobago international and a deal now appears close.

It is believed that Swansea have accepted a proposal of £2million from Wigan, with a three-year contract on offer for Scotland.

The 30-year-old striker has enjoyed two hugely successful seasons with the Welsh side, netting 53 goals in 105 matches.

Roberto Martinez brought Scotland to the Liberty Stadium after being impressed by his performances with St Johnstone.

Martinez was appointed as Wigan's manager earlier in the summer and has now raided his former club for Scotland.

The new Latics boss has already signed Jordi Gomez, who he also worked with at Swansea, and Honduran midfielder Hendry Thomas.

Jason Scotland believes he is fulfilling a dream by playing in the Premier League and insists he has nothing but fond memories of his time at Swansea as he prepares to complete his switch to Wigan.

The Trinidad and Tobago striker, who grabbed 24 goals for the Swans last term, is finalising his £2million move to the JJB Stadium and should officially link up with former boss Roberto Martinez in the coming days once he secures a new work permit.

Expressing his feelings over the transfer, the 30-year-old told Swansea's official website: "It has always been my dream to play in the Premier League and I had to take my chance before it was too late."

He added: "I've had two great years with Swansea and I would like to thank the club for the opportunity they gave me. I think I've repaid them with goals, an achievement I'm very proud of. I am also very proud that I've helped Swansea City progress as a football club.

"It was always going to be a tough job for me to follow in the footsteps of someone like Lee Trundle, who was a remarkable talent for Swansea. But I think in the end the majority of the fans had a lot of love for me.

"I had a lot of love for them as well and I would like to thank those fans for their support. I was never going to please them all, but that's football for you."
