The 31-year-old goes seeking his fifth goal of the season in today’s npower Championship fixture against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground (kick-off 3pm) promising Town fans that there will be much more to come.

“The gaffer has come out and said that he wants me to score 15 to 20 goals this season,” said Scotland – a £750,000 buy from Wigan in August.

“I’m disappointed with that as I’m seeking 25 to 30.

“I’m happy here and happy with my move and I’m really goal hungry again.

“I feel the same now as I did at Swansea two years ago when I managed 24 goals.

“When chances come my way now I’m confident I can take them.

“Last season with the opportunities I got for Wigan in the Premier League I was happy with the way I was playing but I was not scoring goals.

“I managed one in the top flight, and things were not happening around the box for me.

“I’ve managed four goals and yes it could have been six or seven but I’m happy with the current ratio.”

Like the rest of his team mates, Scotland has been left disappointed with a failure to gain any points from the last two games against Coventry and Watford.

“I’m the type that looks ahead and works out the points we should manage,” added Scotland.

“Coventry at home was a match where we should have gained three points and Watford was a place where at least a point should not have been beyond us.

“We need to bounce back at Forest and although they have a great home record they must be due for a defeat soon.

“I’ve scored at the City Ground but never won there – so I’m hoping to put that right.

“There will be no bigger game for us this season – play-offs excepted – and if we get a result then Millwall at home next Saturday will I’m sure take care of itself.”

Scotland sees the trick to stay in the pack for the next three months or so, and then make a burst for the finishing line gaining a top six finish and having momentum going into the play-offs.

“We need a result at Forest to stay in the pack - and then see where that takes us.”

Talking about the service he has been getting from Ipswich’s midfielders, Scotland explained:

“I don’t want to put pressure on others

“I’m feeling fit and my recovery time is speeding up from when I first arrived and if I happen to be working on scraps – as happens sometimes – It’s my job to put the ball into the net.”
