JASON Scotland has revealed the hurt felt by Town players during their seven-game losing streak extended to tempers fraying on the team bus.

The dire run was ended by Saturday’s thrilling 5-3 victory at Barnsley which meant a more harmonious ride home.

But this hasn’t always been the case according to Scotland, who starred and scored in the televised match at Oakwell.

The striker revealed: “The journey home (after Barnsley) was so different. It had a big effect winning that match as everyone was bubbly on the bus.

“When you are losing games, somebody will be swearing at somebody and people won’t be happy because we are losing.

“No one takes defeats well. It has been a far better, positive week.”

Scotland was many people’s man of the match against Barnsley, scoring the fifth goal as Town came back from 2-0 down at half-time to win 5-3 and ease the pressure on manager Paul Jewell.

But the striker played down his own performance, saying: “To be fair, we were struggling in the first half and I didn’t think I was contributing much.

“In the second half I did a bit better but I don’t think it was my best performance. I just try and be the best I can be week-in, week-out.”

Meanwhile, Town’s young on-loan striker Ronan Murray has admitted his switch to Swindon Town is helping to turn him into a man.

Despite not yet making a start for Paolo Di Canio’s men, Murray, who has come off the bench on three occasions, told the Swindon Advertiser: “The last couple of weeks have been brilliant, I’ve come into a group of lads where they are flying high and are unbeaten in 14.

“I’m 20 at the minute so I’m learning all the time and I have to learn all the time to be a better player. This experience is a stepping stone for me, it’s a different league and it’s where boys turn into men.”
