ELGIN City have clocked up another Marvin Andrews-inspired victory in League 2.

The veteran stopper, playing his third and final trial game for City, helped them to a win win over Barry Ferguson’s Clyde on Saturday.

Andrews was voted sponsors’ man of the match, just as he was in the opening 1-0 home win against Albion Rovers a fortnight earlier.

Manager Barry Wilson said he has already offered Andrews a permanent deal but the position regarding the player’s future wasn’t any clearer.

“Knowing Marvin the way I do, he’ll make a decision in the next two or three days,” he said.

“Whatever happens he’s been a joy to work with and the hope the City fans have enjoyed it.

“But hopefully we can win that battle as well.”

Andrews had a hand in City’s goal, making a tackle in his own box leading to a counter attack, and a Daniel Moore cross for Gunn to volley home on 27 minutes.

City survived Clyde pressure in the opening minutes with keeper Mike Fraser pulling off an outstanding save from John Sweeney’s point blank header.

Shane Sutherland went close on a couple of occasions while Gunn was denied by a good Jamie Barclay save in the second half.

Clyde hit the bar with a cross late on but Elgin held on for a well-deserved win.

Elgin: Fraser, Beveridge, Finlayson, Cooper, Trialist, Nicolson, Gunn (Bayne 73), Macphee, Cameron, Sutherland, Moore (MacKenzie 79). Subs: McHardy, McLean, Wyness, Wojczik, Black.
