CLAYTON Ince played a blinder in his first game since March and then declared he aims to be Crewe's player of the season!

The big Trinidadian was a late addition to the Alex side to face Leicester last week after first choice stopper Ben Williams withdrew with a groin injury.

It was his first appearance for the Railwaymen since he was injured in the club's defeat to West ham on March 17. Manchester United youngster Williams came in on loan, eventually signed, and has been the number one ever since.

But Ince certainly showed no sign of ring-rust when he stepped into the breach for the 2-2 draw, pulling off a string of saves to help earn his side a share of the spoils.

He was awarded the sponsors man-of-the-match award and kept up his good form with a solid performance against Brighton.

He said: 'It is good to know that people see and appreciate what I have been doing. But we have a long way to go and I would like to be player of the season.

'That means the team will do well and will be somewhere in the top half. I have a determination to put pressure on the manager and make him think about who he is going to play. I have to focus now, and keep the position that the jersey says - number one.'
