He tells Bill Goldie, "This will be another new challenge for me"

Our latest signing, Marvin Andrews, is all set to make his first start for Queens against Morton tomorrow, and he is really looking forward to it. Says big Marv, "At present I'm just here on a month's loan and this is another new challenge for me.

"I've been training in Glasgow with the rest of the Queens' squad since Monday and I'm now beginning to get to know them all. And I must say, they've all been most welcoming!. I travel to and from training with Stevie Tosh as we both stay in Kirkcaldy and he's a real character--never short of laughs. I also know Barry Wilson well but yesterday was only my third day of training so I'm really just settling in".

Now a seasoned professional he arrived in Britain in 1997 from Trinidad and Tobago and has been capped over a hundred times for his native country. He admitted he felt cold when he first came here but after 12 years he's getting used to it now. However he joked, "Much as I like Scotland you'll never get me in a kilt".

His former clubs include Raith Rovers, Livingston (who paid £50,000) for him. Then it was on to Rangers and latterly Hamilton Accies.

Tomorrow will be another new challenge for the big man but he insists, "No matter what team I play for, whether it be Rangers or in a lower division I always endeavour to give my all. My injury has now cleared up and I'm looking forward to playing football again".

Despite being all those years in Scottish football next Saturday, all being well, will be the first time Marvin has played at Palmerston Park. However he's already been told about Queen of the South being the 'Only team in the Bible' and being a devout Christian he finds it most interesting. We'll even get 'Alex the Hat' to play it as he runs out the tunnel just to make him feel welcome.
