Veteran midfielder Russell Latapy has re-signed for Falkirk, where he has also been helping with coaching.

The 35-year-old former Dundee United, Hibernian, Porto and Rangers midfielder has signed a one-year deal with the First Division outfit.

Latapy, who said he had other clubs interested in his signature, said: "I really see Falkirk as a club going places next year.

"I believe that the new stadium will lift the players and fans.

Falkirk started the past season as favourites but failed to shine while at their temporary home sharing with nearby Stenhousemuir.

"Last season was not an ideal one, but with the new players coming to the club I can see us making 2004-2005 a season to remember," said former Trinidad & Tobago international Latapy.

Falkirk manager John Hughes said: "He will thrive on the wide open spaces at Westfield and he will be a key figure in our plans."
