Darryl RobertsTurkish-based forward Darryl Roberts has described the 2010/2011 season with Denizlispor in the Turkish Second Division as a challenging one.

The former Holland-based player has tallied three goals in twenty appearances for his club which suffered a mid-season slump after dominating the League in the earlies. They are now fifth on the League table.

“My team was on top of the table during the first term but then we dropped a lot of points within the second term. The season commenced good as I was a regular starter.

However, at the second half of the season due to numerous changes in management and coaching staff I saw less playing time and our results weren’t getting any better,” Roberts said on Monday.

“It was different having to adjust to the game in the Second Division because I played first Division football in Holland and when I came to Turkey before we were relegated.

Overall my personal game has become more physical where it involves more running, more physical contact and overall has been really challenging.

The time in Denizlispor helped me to become stronger both mentally and physically as I had to deal with difficult situations both on and off the pitch. I have gained knowledge that only comes by experiencing the life in Turkey,” Roberts added.

American forward Freddy Adu also campaigns in the Turkish Second Division, on loan from Benefica with Caykur Rizespor.
