I like the part about the coaches from Zambia and Togo being returning nationals who had successful playing careers, studied together, pledged to return and did in fact return to coach young homegrown player dominated fearless teams.

Football / Re: what allyuh think bout jones as the rigtside starter??
« on: August 16, 2005, 04:34:22 PM »
I like Jones on the right too and he moves well there but I rather him in deep to get his head to the end of any crosses.

I think Stern is an out and out holding forward but I wouldnt say the same for Jones, he makes runs and attacks the goal ( even looking a bit clumsy at times) but he can ride tackles well and force a goal so I prefer him in the centre anda let Birchall run the right. I havent seen much of Spann but I think Whitley could give the Americans a lot of trouble if he is allowed to attack but then he would be vying for Yorkie's position and we cyan have dat.

De man was tidying up de tape summary on Trinidad and Tobago to show the team. I doubt whether Nahkid that technologically advanced.

De man say Stern is a 'post up' playa with 61 goals in 83 international appearances. I laugh!

De man say we main form of attack is restarts and counterattack and how we big and athletic at the back but when he reached that part about us playing with 8 men behind the ball and he was talking about how to counter that I think it showed exactly why Beenie needs to put some speed in the attack on both sides to keep them wondering about the counter attack when they lose that ball while trying to come at us.

Like he aint know that Trinis learn to run backwards. He say, play the ball forward early or play it wide so that it force our defenders to turn and face we own goal...I laugh again yes!

He aint know if Beenie figurin to get two headed goals from two corners and dust dem up and done.

I forgot to mention dat de two best Canadian players ( the two forwards) were black and looked very very Trini. To be honest I would not be surprised if they were of Trini origin ( Al yuh pullin a Birchy on we) So you Canadians ave nuttin to celebrate really.

Football / Re: Beenhakker calls up late replacement
« on: August 15, 2005, 09:21:09 PM »
Nope he does not. Avery plays left back and so does Glenton Wolfe. So my point is - if I am calling Glenton Wolfe it would only be because Avery has a problem - at left back.

Now that I read its Anthony Wolfe ( his brother I think) is being called instead I must also say that I have seen him play midfield with the national squad against his own team (when the national squad lost if I remember well) and he did not look good there at all. He was so badly positioned that sometimes he was caught drifting and spectating too much. He has speed and a good first touch and prefers to play from out wide right and cut into crosses or just run on and finish. In fact he is almost as close as Glenn as you will get from the current and past team members and likes to take defenders down to the 6 yd box and goal line.

I guess only Beenie knows here. In terms replacements for Carlos and Rahim my selections would have been (not in order of priority):

1. Eve (he scored the last time against them remember and he has dead ball attributes)
2. Glen (Give Glenn a break, he works hard and will always pose problems running at them)
3. Tiger ( diehard midfielder from what I see - no harm done)
4. Josh Johnson (Jabloteh's tireless right winger - de man runs like a horse whole game, can beat and score plus he has form)

I would only bring Wolfe as cover for Avery, he does not keep possession well enough to play midfield in my opinion.

Canada good but dont get too excited because they well beatable. Guatemala just did not have de tools to stop them in de air.

Canada's U15 main strengths were the two forwards 10 and 14 (they should be kept together for as long as humanly possible - their positioning and communication is excellent) the long haired central defender that kept overlapping and the goalkeeper ( he must be bright in school believe me de way de boy setting he wall and calling plays was great). The right winger ( substituted late in the game) was good too but he lacks confidence around the 18yd box.

Canada's weakness was its midfield and attacking options. The twin attacking towers are all they have up front and the only go-to guys. When no.14 was injured and taken out of the game for a while, nuttin happened in attack for a long time which tells me that if any team they face properly mark out one of those two attacking towers Canada guh cry. They look for each other when they get the ball and almost never tried to attack alone which is something they may have to work on to develop collective by separat predatory instincts instead of being so dependent on each other. But them two fellas so gifted and fit, even though it took them a long time to get on the scoresheet they were causing problems all the time because Guatemala defenders was so short.

Anyway, the exquisite lob by the no.10 to score the second goal was a real beauty. He could make ESPN top 10 goals with dat one.

Football / Canada 4-waltz but Trinidad 3-falls
« on: August 13, 2005, 06:24:24 PM »
This is jut smy two cents from what I saw. Touches and Andre and dem goin to give all yuh de real minute by minute.

Jamaica 3 - 0 Trinidad - Jamaica was just too much of a bully on the ball and Trinidad gave away the goals. It should have ended so badly for them but lapses in concentration and an inability to just keep de damn ball alllowed Jamaica to get away with murder boy. We had no real shots on goal until a long range one in the 69th minute and never really threatened to score though we had nice slow slow slow build ups which was fine by the Jamaicans who were just  happy to counterattack all afternoon. Our lack of physical strength and unpolished technical ability was ruthlesly exposed.

Canada 4 - 0 Guatemala - a real classy performance. Canada's two forwards nos. 10 and 14 were in a league all by themselves. The Guatemalans worked really hard and were very sound technically ( i real real real polished tehcnical abiilty and skill boy) but could not break down Canada whose goalkeeper had the best brains on the field for me. Guatemala would do well to bottle the talents of their nos. 12 and 7 (midfielders) and sell it because they were the shortest on the field ( especially the no. 12 who was shorter than even the shortest Trini player) but had such courage, deft control and mazy dribbling that they deserved better from their forward line. But the night belonged to Canada's no. 10 and 14, a brilliant combination of skill, speed, control and size they also communicated throughout the blitz and took 3 of the 4 goals on the night like true strikers.

I tink our boys showed their inexperience. I refuse to worry or panic. Is de first time this team ever play together. They will get better once we raise the level of the local league and they get more matches like this.

« on: August 12, 2005, 08:58:00 AM »
He may be lazy and prima donna and I think he can do much much better howeverl I still think he is the player the americans fear only because they know what he can do and deh must be worried that he looking to break he no-scoring streak against them so they will do they best to shut him down early and frustrate him.

I say Stern should score in de first minute of de game and put them in a daze.
