I think the commentator this weekend said that the last time City won the title they beat Newcastle on the last day, and Man U lost to Sunderland...Not an exact repeat but pretty darn close for the superstitious ones out there.

Study if Man U had to beat QPR at home to seal the deal, there'd be no question about it - goes to show how far a reputation goes.

On a positive note.. congrats to the reserve team for winning the reserve league!!

Reserves' national glory

Sam Johnstone was the hero as United won the Barclays Premier Reserve League play-off final  with a 3-1 defeat of Aston Villa on penalties after a goalless draw.

Most of the chances came in the second period but the Reds had to settle for a third 0-0 draw in succession at this level, meaning a shoot-out was required to decide the victors at Old Trafford. Johnstone made three stunning saves - from Samir Carruthers, Danny Johnson and Courtney Cameron - to ensure the Reds lifted the trophy. Joshua King, with a slice of good fortune, Jesse Lingard and Will Keane gave the hosts a 100 percent record from the spot.

The first half disappointed in terms of entertainment with both sides taking time to get to grips with the occasion although Will Keane had a half-hearted penalty shout turned down by referee Neil Swarbrick after being pushed by Nathan Baker inside the box. Ryan Tunnicliffe snapped into a couple of bone-crunching tackles and Michael Keane also impressed in defence but Villa carved out a couple of openings as the interval approached.

Michael Drennan's shot was deflected off target by Sam Johnstone when a Danny Johnson cross fell to him and Samir Carruthers found himself in the clear after a one-two but finished poorly. The second half was far more open with substitutes Marnick Vermijl and Robbie Brady making in-roads down the right.

Brady fed the overlapping Vermijl who crossed invitingly but Will Keane could only place his finish wide when a goal seemed on the cards. A Brady cross was fisted away by Benjamin Siegrist with Will Keane lurking but Villa hit back with Gary Gardner's free-kick flying inches off target. Gardner eally should have broken the deadlock when somehow spurning a chance created by Johnson and Enda Stevens but United then responded with more pressure of their own.

Brady shot too high after good play by Jesse Lingard and Will Keane and Lingard then saw a shot deflect onto the top of the net following a Tunnicliffe lay-off. Tunnicliffe and King had further efforts while Josh Webb got his finish all wrong after being presented with a decent opportunity on the right-hand side of the area.

Scott Wootton, who had headed past his own post with a clearance at the start of the second half, could not keep his shot down after being picked out by Lingard as penalties loomed. But there was a stirring finale with Johnstone scrambling away a Gardner header and then blocking another shot from the midfielder. In the dying seconds, Lingard did well to pull a Brady pass out of the air but saw his powerful drive beaten away by Siegrist's best save of the night.

Then came the drama which ended in United's favour - thanks largely to Johnstone's heroics, which gave the supporters something to cheer and means it is now full steam ahead to the Manchester Senior Cup final at Manchester City and the chance of more silverware next Thursday.

United: Johnstone; Fornasier (Vermijl 46), M.Keane, Wootton, Fryers; Cole, Thorpe (Brady 50), Tunnicliffe, Petrucci (King 71), Lingard; W.Keane. Subs not used: Coll, Giverin.

Watching this game now, that Japanese player in some real poison

Ferguson in Berlin to watch Manchester United target Kagawa

Old Trafford club are rumoured to be front-runners in the race to capture the Japanese star's signature this summer, and the Scottish boss is in attendance at the German cup-final

Goal.com exclusively revealed in April that the current Premier League champions were lining up a bid to take the Japanese attacker to England, and Dortmund have hinted recently that the 23-year-old would be heading for the exit door this summer.

Kagawa's contract expires in a little over a year, and Dortmund have stated that he will not sign an extension to his current deal, so are likely to cash in on their talented youngster in the coming transfer window.

The Japanese midfielder arrived in Germany after the 2010 World Cup for a fee well below £1 million, and is expected to fetch upwards of £10m this year.

He has scored nine times in 29 international appearances for Japan, and has now scored 22 times in 50 appearances for the German club, including his opener in the cup final, after which Arjen Robben equalised from the penalty spot.

Mats Hummels scored Dortmund's second, also from 12 yards, before Kagawa laid on an assist for Robert Lewandowski to put the Bundesliga champions 3-1 up.

Condolences to the Man Utd faithful on here.

Man Utd did very well to push Man City all the way down to stoppage time at the Etihad on the final day of the season.

Man Utd is a great club with a proud history and Sir Alex Ferguson is one of the greatest managers in the history of English football.

Congratulations to the Man Utd team on a superb end to Utd's season.

One of the SHITTIEST United teams in recent memory carry dis down to the wire? I dunno if to laugh or cry.  :frustrated:
The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today are Christians who acknowledge Jesus ;with their lips and walk out the door and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.

The only thing I can look forward too is Bayern beating Chelsea, so they won't be in CL next season... That will the only thing I could smile about... F@*k City. Just like Abramovic* they buy the trophy. They will catch they arse for the next 20 years like Chelski the FA cup winners. Trophy less season for us.... That will give us time to extend our trophy room for next year's treble hahaha
