AS PART of their preparations for the Concacaf Futsal Final Round Qualifiers, the Clayton Morris-coached T&T men’s Futsal (five-a-side) football team will come up against Tobago Select at Scarborough Secondary School from 6 pm tonight.

The 16-member national team is expected to leave Trinidad today at 6.30 am before returning tomorrow while the match is being jointly hosted by the Paradise Hockey Club of Tobago and the Tobago Football Federation.

At the Concacaf Final Round competition, the T&T team, winners of the Caribbean Football Union Futsal Championship for a second time on home soil last month will face host Guatemala, Mexico and Cuba in their Group A matches that will take place in Guatemala City, Guatemala from June 3 to 8.

The defending Concacaf champions, USA is in Group B with Costa Rica, Panama and Haiti.

Only the group winners and second placed teams will advance to the semifinals carded for June 7, while the third placed match and final will be played a day later.

Matches are also planned for Point Fortin, Port-of-Spain and then at Maloney before heading to Brazil for the camp on May 25.

For the Tobago trip Corneal noted that the Defence Force players Kevin Graham, Perry Martin, Jerwyn Balthazar and Ronald St Louis have bee excused because of their club’s Pro League engagement while Sherron Joseph is injured and Dale Simon has family commitments.
