“Everyone feels that Police would be the walkover team in the League this season, so we intend to prove them wrong,” pledged Police FC technical director Muhammad Isa this week ahead of Saturday’s Digicel Pro League Championship Round Two Match Day Four fixture against Caledonia AIA from 5pm at the Ato Boldon Stadium.

Isa backed up his statement by announcing the signings of notable midfielder Trent Noel, midfielder Vernell Ramirez and striker Trent Lougheed from Joe Public and former W Connection youth defender Weslie John from T&TEC FC.

Noel who turns 36 on January 14, is no stranger to the signature blue strip having played for the ‘lawmen’ before joining former club San Juan Jabloteh in 2002.

The former Trinidad and Tobago international became a free agent after completing a three month stint at St. Ann’s Rangers last November.

“It’s always an honour to have someone like Trent,” said the Police FC technical director.

“He(Trent Noel) has brought a lot of experience and professionalism to our squad and we are looking to get the most benefit out of him returning to us.”

Added to the signing of the 2008 Toyota/TT Pro League Player of the Year Noel, the lawmen are coming off a surprising 4-1 win over T&TEC FC in Round Two Match Day Three back in December with recent signing Errol Charles finding the back of the net twice while Todd Ryan and Kelon Williams notched an item each.

Isa explained, “We had a dent to our preparation with the late start (because of the State of Emergency). We had a draw (against St. Ann’s Rangers) and a narrow loss (against San Juan Jabloteh). And against T&TEC we showed that we were starting to get where we want to be.”

He added, “The Christmas break would have definitely affect us because after getting to where we want to be, we went straight into the break. However we are energized and the guys are very motivated even by the arrival of Trent. So we will attempt another great result on Saturday.”
