MIDFIELDERS Aurtis Whitley and Josh Johnson netted doubles in leading CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh to a 7-0 pounding of Tobago United in the T&T Professional Football League’s Senior Division at the Larry Gomes Stadium in Malabar, Arima,yesterday.


Whitley opened the scoring from a penalty in the second minute after striker Kerry Noray was bundled over in the danger area, Whitley made it 2-0 in the 15th minute.

Noray extended the lead to 3-0 in the 30th minute to make his team more comfortable at half-time.

Two minutes into the second-half, Kerry Baptiste got the fourth goal for Jabloteh before Josh Johnson and Nigel Daniel added their names to the scoring list with goals in the 79th and 87th minutes respectively.

Johnson then got his second goal of the match and his fifth of the season to hand the Tobagonians a second straight 7-0 defeat. Tobago United was also beaten 7-0 by table-toppers VIBE CT 105 W Connection last week.

With the win, their second from six matches, Jabloteh improved to eight points—10 less than W Connection (18 points).

Champion side National Quarries North-East Stars won for the third time this season, scoring 3-1 over United Petrotrin on the Palo Seco Recreation Ground to join Caledonia AIA/Fire with ten points.

In yesterday’s late fixture, second-placed Caledonia AIA/Fire (10 points) was due to come up against Defence Force at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella, with a chance to cut W Connection’s lead to five points.
