Point Fortin Civic are back in second and have sliced the lead held by Digicel Pro League frontrunners DIRECT W Connection after defeating San Juan Jabloteh 2-0 at the Mahaica Oval in Point Fortin on Saturday.

Attacking midfielder Marcus Joseph scored on either side of the half, first hitting past goalkeeper Shane Mattis from inside the area in the 41st minute, and defeated the Jamaican again in the 74th minute with a laser from distance.

The 23-year-old Joseph, taking his league tally to 9 goals, now leads the goal-scorers list, one more than Jabloteh's Kerry Baptiste.

But more importantly, Joseph's double earned coach Reynold Carrington's side maximum points, to return to second position with 23 points and stretch their unbeaten run to six games.

Connection, who suffered a 2-0 defeat at Mahaica Oval a week ago, were on the Round Two Match Day Six bye, but returns to action on Tuesday against town-rivals and Central FC from 8 pm at the Ato Boldon Stadium following a 6 pm clash between Police FC and third positioned Caledonia AIA.

Also on Tuesday, North East Stars, coming off Friday night's 1-1 draw with Central, will tackle Jabloteh from 6 pm at the Marvin Lee Stadium.
