HAITI were two goals down against Defence Force on New Year’s Day before rallying to a 2-2 draw with the local Pro League football team.

The Caribbean visitors also drew by the same score with a Directv W Connection team, minus its Trinidad and Tobago national team selectees.

Both Defence Force coach Marvin Gordon and W Connection’s Stuart Charles-Fevrier described Haiti as “decent”, despite having a mainly locally-based team for the three-match 2016/17 Scotiabank CFU Men’s Caribbean Cup fifth-place playoff that starts today at Ato Boldon stadium, Couva, Trinidad & Tobago.

The Haitians are expected to be Trinidad and Tobago’s chief rivals in the playoffs to find the fifth Caribbean nation to compete in the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The Caribbean fifth spot qualifier faces Central America’s fifth for the final spot into the region’s top competition for national football teams.
