TWO FORMER Trinidad and Tobago left-footed attackers are moving in opposite directions — careerwise.
Forward Peter Prosper has joined defending national champions CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh from Starworld Strikers. And playmaker Kerwyn “Hardest” Jemmott has left Jabloteh by mutual consent. During the transfer market, Prosper and dreadlocked defender Kerry Franklyn made the switch from Starworld to Jabloteh. The 34-year-old Prosper was contracted until December while Franklyn will be a member of the back-to-back Pro League winners until the end of 2005.

Prosper was a prolific goalscorer for United Petrotrin before his controversial move to Lebanese club Al Ansar in 1996, where he stayed until 2003. He returned home to play for SWIF (now South West Drillers), following which he moved to Starworld at the beginning of this year. Jemmott has joined the list of national youth and senior players over the last decade whose careers have been tarnished by indiscipline — Arnold Dwarika, Nigel “Croc” Pierre, Gorean “Ratty” Highley, Andre Toussaint, Warren Butler, Otis Seaton (Aurtis Whitley), Ashford Leggerton, Michael Carrington and Marvin Phillip.

The former Malick Senior and TT Under-23 midfielder made his national debut against South Africa in 1998, under coach Bertille St Clair but has never been able to secure a regular team pick due to his renowned dislike for practice. The 26-year-old was booted out of current Super League champs Joe Public in 2002 and spent a brief spell with W Connection late last season. Like Jemmott, midfielder Joseph “Gouti” Peters made his exit from Jabloteh recently to rejoin 2003 Super League winners L-Sporto Crab Connection, after he failed to cement a spot on the team’s starting lineup. Two strikers have returned from North America to rejoin Pro League clubs.

One is 22-year-old Conrad Smith who has resumed his contract with Arima/Morvant Fire after a short stay with Calgary Mustangs in Canada. The other is 30-year-old Kevin Jeffrey, who netted eight goals for Richmond Kickers in the American A-League. He is back with North East Stars for the remainder of the season. Connection will welcome back St Kitts’ forward George Isaac, who donned their colours last year, while 21-year-old Ijanar Mark joins Prosper, Pierre, Devon Mitchell and Kerry Noray as Jabloteh’s senior team strikers after a loan spell with Tobago United.
