St Lucien defender Sheldon Emmanuel has decided to stay with Neal and Massy Caledonia AIA for the up-coming 2007 Pro League season.

The 27 year old Caledonia player confirmed to ‘ttproleague.com’ his decision to remain at the Morvant based club.

“I am with Caledonia for the 2007 season and have already started back training with the team yesterday,” he said.

In earlier reports by ‘ttproleague.com’ coach Terry Fenwick of CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh had reported signing the 2006 Pro League Defender of the Year.

Emmanuel who had left Trinidad during the break on a visit to his homeland St Lucia admitted having talks with the San Juan based Club Coach before he left but says that he never agreed to any deal.

On his return to Trinidad earlier this week the defender reunited with Technical Director Jamaal Shabazz of Caledonia AIA and has decided to sign on for the 2007 season.

“Yes, I have had talks with Terry Fenwick before I left for home. He wanted me to join his club this season but I never agreed on anything because I needed to talk with Jamaal first before making any decision.”

“When I returned to Trinidad I met with Jamaal and discussed my options. I have worked with Jamaal in my entire Pro League life with Caledonia and he and the Club has done a lot for me. After our discussion we both agreed that I would stay on as a Caledonia AIA player this season,” added the defender.

Sheldon Emmanuel had joined the Morvant based Club back in 2000 and had only been away from the Club in 2003 when he left for Jamaican Club Anet Gardens. However, his stay in Jamaica was short lived when he decided to return to his Pro League Club halfway through the season.

As for how long he will continue as a Caledonia player, Emmanuel said, “I am looking forward in the future and always to a better position in football. I am hoping on earning a contract outside of the Caribbean after the 2007 season and see where it goes from there. As for now I am a Caledonia player and we will have to wait and see what happens in the future,” ended the St Lucien defender.

Shabazz who had earlier denied reports on Emmanuel’s move, was delighted on his player’s return speaking with ‘ttproleague.com’.

“As I have always said before, Emmanuel is a Caledonia player. If he is here for ten years, he will be a Caledonia player for ten years. He is back in training with us now and this is great for him as well as the Club,” ended the Technical Director.
