Unattached Trinidad and Tobago international goalkeeper Marvin Phillip has signed a three year deal with Couva based Pro League club W Connection just a week after his release from North East Stars.

W Connection Owner/President David John Williams was a very delighted man confirming adding the national goalkeeper to his ranks.

He told ‘ttproleague.com’, “Obviously we recognize his(Marvin Phillip) talent. We have signed him on a three year deal and I think he is very important addition right now.”

Williams explained, “With goalkeeper Jan Michael Williams in the process of joining English club Sheffield United, we think that Marvin would be a good acquisition, so we went ahead and signed him.”

The signing came one week following Marvin Phillip’s split from Sangre Grande based North East Stars.

According to Phillip he wasn’t pleased with the arrangements at North East Stars and both he and club Manager Darryl Mahabir agreed on a mutual split.

David John Williams also explained that he is fully aware of the negative notion going around about Phillip, but isn’t worried.

“A lot of people feel that Marvin isn’t good enough for any club because of his so-called poor attitude, but we think different about the player,” Williams said.

He believes that he can get the best out of the player saying, “We can provide the right environment for Marvin at W Connection to improve on his career,” promised the W Connection President.

In return goalkeeper Marvin Philip is willing to prove his new employers that they have made the right decision.

He told ttproleague.com “I am going to give my best at the club and that means helping them(W Connection) to titles this season,” said the former Starworld Strikers And North East Stars goalie.

Phillip added with excitement, “W Connection is the best club locally and I am honored to be part of them.”

He is also confident of donning the number one shirt in the not to distant future. He said, “I am aware that W Connection have great goalkeepers (Brazilians Jan Mansano and Murilo Da Costa) at the moment but I know that the work I am going to put in with the team would put me in the final eleven very soon.”

Phillip is also hoping that his performance with W Connection could help with his future goal of playing professionally abroad.
