It was the brilliance of San Juan Jabloteh goalie Cleon John that saved his team from what could have turned out to be a 4-0 trashing by W Connection on Saturday at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium in the feature match up on the weekend.

But the Jabloteh second choice goalkeeper made certain with his performance that he was part of Coach Terry Fenwick’s starting eleven for the next match against North East Stars on Tuesday.

John had made at least four point blank saves against W Connection ensuring a clean sheet as Jabloteh shared points after a goalless encounter against their bitter rivals.

John was voted ‘Man of the Match’ for his brilliance between the uprights.

Following the match Coach Terry Fenwick commended the Pro League’s Goalkeeper of the Month for July.

“He(Cleon) had three or four great saves this afternoon,” said Fenwick.

“A lot of people would have thought that he came into the team for just one or two games for Daurance Williams. But now, Daurance has really got to be looking over his shoulder. He might have lost his place this season,” said the Jabloteh Coach with a cheek expression.

However Fenwick is delighted over the rivalry. He said, “I want that competition obviously at Jabloteh. Good luck to Cleon. He has been outstanding and he deserves to be number one,” ended Fenwick.
