Caledonia AIA of Morvant/Laventille trio T&T’s Keyon Edwards and Akim Armstrong and Guyanese international Walter Moore were all on the losing end in the final of the 20th Kashif and Shanghai Football Tournament at the Guyana National Stadium, on Friday.

The trio who lined-up for Alpha United went under to BK International Western Tigers 2-0 before a large crowd in Providence.

Former Caledonia player Devon Millington and Dwayne Ali were the players on target for Tigers who made use of their limited chances while Edwards muffed a number of glaring chances for the eventual runner-up.

Edwards, the Digicel Pro League’s 2009 second top scorer with 16 goals was replaced by Armstrong midway through the second-half, but it failed to bring about the desired result.

In the third place match, Sunburst Campton came from behind to defeat Pele 4-2 with another ex-Caledonia and Clico San Juan Jabloteh player, Nigel Codrington scoring two goals. Included in the Pele squad was former bmobile Joe Public striker Gregory Richardson and current Caledonia captain Charles Pollard.

Earlier in the quarterfinal round, discarded T&T striker Kevon Carter scored for the second straight match for Guyana Defence Force in a 2-1 loss to Pele.

Carter, one of four players from the T&T Defence Force who were on-loan to the GDF fired his team into the lead in the 14th minute easily beating goalkeeper Shemroy Arthur to follow up his strike in a 3-1 win over West Demerara’s Seawall FC in the round-of-16.

The match swung in Pele’s favour when GDF’s Kion Adams and David Alleyne were shown red cards in the 63rd and 66th minutes respectively to reduce their team to nine men.
