Kishun SeecharanNational under-17 midfielder Kishun Seecharan believes this country’s under-17 team will become stronger, following their three-match winning run in the Caribbean Football Union qualifiers.

T&T secured wins over Guyana, Suriname and British Virgin Islands to seal a spot in the CONCACAF Final round in Panama City next year, on the way to the 2013 FIFA Under 17 World Cup in United Arab Emirates.

Seecharan of 1st FC Santa Rosa scored a hat-trick in the 23-0 demolition of BVI and netted one more in the 3-1 win over Suriname. “We are getting better.

This team has players who work really hard and we are improving. We gained experience in this tournament and we were very anxious to play our first match for the country. Now that is out of the way and we went on to win all three games which was a good achievement for us,” said Seecharan.

“I’ve always wanted to play for the national team and we knew we had the potential. Now we will continue to prepare and work hard to play the other teams in the next round.” Seecharan idolises Lionel Messi but also follows a local-based striker: “I like Messi but I’m a Trinidadian so I also like Kerry Baptiste.

I started off at Santa Rosa SC. That’s my team and I don’t plan on leaving there anytime soon. I love the players and the coaches there. But I want to play outside T&T at some point, so I’ll keep working towards fulfilling my dreams.”
