Goals by captain Jabari Mitchell and Josh Toussaint secured a 2-2 draw for Trinidad and Tobago’s National Under 20 men’s team with Colombian Third Division team Fundaleu on Tuesday night.

It was the latest training match for the Under 20s following an opening 5-0 loss to Acolfutpro last Wednesday  and a 1-1 draw with Puerto Tejada on Saturday.

Mitchell scored a 5th minute penalty and Toussaint grabbed T&T’s second item in the 35th minute.

Next up, T&T faces Deportivo Cali’s Under 20 team on Saturday morning. The squad is scheduled to arrive in San Jose, Costa Rica on February 15th ahead of their opening qualifying match versus Bermuda on February 19th.

“A lot of the players we are picking are overseas and all will be available for the trip,” Bermuda head coach Kyle Lightbourne said.

“I’m very encouraged because we’re going to have our full strength team to pick from.”

T&T's head coach Brian Williams noted that the latest match was a tough exercise for his team.

“It was a pretty strong contest for us. I thought our players handled the challenge and the conditions well. I was satisfied with some aspects of our performance but of course there are still some areas that need strengthening. But we were able to score early and we never allowed the opposition to get on top of us,” Williams told TTFA Media.

“The next couple of days will be spent working on certain aspects of our game play and our approach to the opposition we will face in Costa Rica.

There will be a final selection before we get to Costa Rica which means places are up for grabs. Along with my coaches, we have evaluated every player available in this camp and we have a fair idea of what the final team will look like going into Costa Rica,” Williams added.
