Valencia United, West Wood Strikers, Hard Knocks and 1st Engineering Battalion all posted wins in the weekend fixtures of the 2014 Lendore Village Football League at the Chrissie Terrace Recreation Ground in Enterprise.

On Friday evening, Strikers got the ball rolling when they defeated Edinburgh 500 by a 3-2 margin with a brace from Kareem Beckles.

Beckles opened the scoring in the 34th minute with a low left-footed shot and completed his team’s scoring with another left-footed effort in the 48th, while Kefim Blackford got his name on the scoresheet in the 37th minute of play.

Carlos Linsley, 46th, and Hoasni Thomas, 58th, notched second half items for Edinburgh in a losing cause.

In the second game of Friday’s doubleheader, 1st Engineering came out on the winning end of a hard-fought 2-1 duel with Dream Team.

The regiment unit enjoyed the better of the early exchanges but had a tough time breaching their opponents’ defence until Christopher Young slotted the ball home in the 34th minute.

Gerrard De Verteuil, 58th, provided what turned out to be the winning item as Dream Team got a consolation goal in the 69th minute from second half substitute Stephon David.

In the two matches played on Saturday, prolific striker Kendis Garcia scored a second half double to lead Valencia to a 4-1 whipping of Innocent Fun.

Garcia’s 42nd and 58th minute items came in the middle of strikes from Huston Scott, 15th, and Denzil Garcia, 78th.

And Hector Sam ensured Hard Knocks preserved their unbeaten run in this year’s tournament with goals in the second and 50th minute in their 3-0 blanking of Corner Boys.  Devon Modeste notched the other item for the winners in the 24th minute of play.

In the lone match on Monday, the youthful Enterprise Life Sports held Jordan Trace CRIL to a 2-2 draw.

Dale Cadogan and Jaheel Jeffrey were on target for Life Sports while Mark Charles and Akil Clarke replied for Jordan Trace.
