National Gas Company (NGC) defeated Industrial Plant Services Limited (IPSL) on penalty kicks on Friday night to take the Super Industrial Services (SIS) football title and a first prize of $10,000. Work at the Point Lisas Industrial Estate stood still for a couple of hours as workers converged at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva to witness the Grand Finals. The game was played at a fast pace although both teams found it difficult to score and even after extra time, no one was able to get the ball into the back of the net.

So on to penalty kicks they went. Both teams scored their first attempts but NGC’s custodian, Curtis Paul, came up big in IPSL’s second attempt when he saved that kick. Both NGC and IPSL scored their next three kicks to make it NGC 4–4, with NGC’s final kick left. But as fate would have it, NGC shot over the bar to send the game to sudden death penalty kicks. IPSL missed their first kick and this time NGC’s captain Dale Baxter made no mistake, slotting the spot kick into the net sending the NGC players and supporters into a frenzy.

Man of the match was Kheel Ferrier of NGC. Other awards included Most Individual Goals (Sean Siloch scoring 11 goals in seven matches), and Tournament MVP, which went to IPSL’s AUM Division’s Joel Nancoo. Earlier, Proman defeated PCS Nitrogen 3–0 to take the third place trophy and $4,000.
