LTV and Phase II will meet tonight in the first Freedom Cup Football “Big Four” semifinal hosted by the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs at the St Paul Street Multipurpose Complex, from 7.30 pm. This after both teams won their quarterfinal matches at the same venue last week. On Saturday, LTV blanked Ask Yuh Mother 2-0 and Phase II edged One Love 1-0.

In the other semifinal at the same venue tomorrow, Barcelona and Jah Unit will lock horns, also from 7.30 pm. Barcelona downed Phase III 3-0 in its last-eight clash while Jah Unit got the better of Chinapoo Police Youth Club 2-0 on penalty-kicks after a 0-0 draw.

The Freedom Cup…No more Borders, throughout communities in the Morvant/Laventille area is a small-goal football initiative of the MSYA which has been in progress since September and was launched at the St Paul Street Sport Complex last month. The competition seeks to empower the youth in the marginalised area of Trinidad. In addition, it is envisaged that it will provide a source of positive engagement for the youth and build a sense of community spirit by eradicating all border lines through sport.
