Westside Superstarz leapt to the top of the bmobile National Super League (NSL) standings after a 3-0 whipping of Bethel United on Sunday at St Anthony’s Ground, and are now one of two teams with a perfect record.

Akil Morris doubled up early in the first half with goals in the 14th and 25th minutes, while Qian Grosvenor added another in the 71st to ensure victory. The other team not to drop points, Real Maracas FC, had their second match against cellar-placed 1976 FC Phoenix postponed to today.

Draws were very popular on Sunday, with three of the five matches played ending in stalemates. Previous Super League winners Joe Public FC hosted defending champs WASA FC at Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya and came away with their first point from a 0-0 result.

Siparia Spurs held Defence Force to a 1-1 draw at Palo Seco Velodrome, while Cyrano Glen’s 90th minute item secured a 3-3 scoreline for Malabar FC against Club Sando at Guaracara Park, who beat WASA 2-0 in their opening encounter the previous weekend.

The other encounter on the day saw Guaya United sneak away with a 4-3 win over Tobago’s Stokely Vale FC at Guaya Recreation Ground despite a last-minute goal from Darron Williams. Guaya led 4-0 after 68 minutes, but nearly imploded as their opponents scored three times in the final 15 minutes.
