Former St Anthony’s College standout midfielder Qian Grosvenor scored his fourth goal in three matches, while four other players found the net to see Westside Superstars to its third consecutive blink/bmobile National Super League win, this time with a 5-1 blowout of Defence Force, at Frederick Settlement Ground, Caroni, yesterday.

Since the season began, Westside has scored no less than three goals in each match, and yesterday the team responded to an early Defence Force goal (its first goal conceded for the season) from Jamil Reece, to complete another one-sided win.

Kevon Piper scored a penalty in the dying moments of the first half to see the two teams into half time level at 1-1. Within the first minute of the second half, Keron Cummings scored to give Westside its first lead of the match, which was followed by three other goals from David Lendore (71st), Grosvenor (85th) and Christon Freitas (86th).

Just two points behind Westside are Club Sando, which humbled Joe Public 2-1 at the Marvin Lee Stadium, and newly-promoted Guaya United, which welcomed fellow league debutant Bethel United with a 4-1 thrashing.

Club Sando, which has signalled its intention to challenge the league’s top teams secured its second victory with a 78th minute effort from Keith Williams. Joe Public’s Richard Inniss levelled the match after Club Sando’s captain Teba McKnight opened in the 22nd minute.

At the Palo Seco Velodrome, former national footballers Anthony Noreiga of Siparia Spurs and Malabar’s Hayden Tinto were among the players on target for both teams when Siparia Spurs and star-studded Malabar FC played to a draw in an eight goal thriller. Goalkeeper Shane Mattis (Malabar) scored a rare goal and an equalizer for Malabar.
