The Sportworld National Super League’s top two teams Joe Public and Crab Connection recorded similar 4-0 wins on match day 16 of the competition yesterday.


Away to Plipdeco Caroni at Gilbert Park, California, Public put on a stellar performance with Jamaican striker Carlington Smith scoring a hat-trick and Roen Nelson adding another.

Smith got his first in the 18th minute to open the scoring, Nelson doubled Public’s advantage in the 31st minute of the match and Smith put his second in the back of the net on 43 minutes to give Public a 3-0 lead at the half then, on the resumption, Smith completed his hat-trick with a 69th minute penalty.

Crab Connection kept within a point of the league leaders with their own 4-0 win over Media 21 at the Mount Hope Junior Secondary ground on goals from Irving Trim (35th), Kirston Graham (38th) and Marlon Warner (60th and 84th).

While Darren Lewis doubled up to help Wasa Clean and White fight its way back into its match against Superstar Rangers at the Wasa ground, St Joseph salvaging a 2-2 draw in the process.

Lewis scored the first of his goals in the 82nd minute to give Wasa the lead but in the very next minute Rafer Ross equalised for Rangers who had Josimar Belgrave to thank for the lead in the 89th minute.

But just as Rangers fans began to celebrate Lewis struck again in the second minute of time added on.

Elsewhere Maraval Youth Academy beat Angostura 1976 F.C Phoenix 2-1, Colan Gomez opened the scoring for the Youth Academy in the 11th minute before Shelton Williams equalised for Phoenix in the 37th minute before Gomez ended the scoring on the stroke of half-time.
