Santa Cruz Gatekeepers topped Group B of the Under-14 division to move into the national quarterfinal of the Republic Bank National Youth League, following three wins and a loss in North Zone action this weekend at Casual Corner, Queen’s Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain.

Santa Cruz now joins Trendsetter Hawks, which topped Group A last weekend. A third team may advance from the North or East Zone but that will be determined following the completion of all matches in all zones. The group topper opened the day with a 2-0 win over last placed finisher, Step by Step. Jaheim Lewis scored one goal in that fixture before he scored another in his club’s second-leg 2-0 win over Step by Step which played a couple hours later.

Meanwhile, in the Under-10 division, SKHY edged Trendsetter Hawks in the final standings to move into the last-eight stage. And, in the Under-12 division, the Hawks were almost flawless in group stage action sealing four wins in as many matches to move into the knockout round.

Two wins were recorded a week prior, before the club continued its strong run on Saturday with a 1-0 and 8-0 wins over Rangers and Laventille United, respectively. Real Gil, Kaihim Thomas and Jaheim Frederick all scored two goals on the day.

Action will turn to the South and Central Zones in all three zones this weekend. The South Zone was postponed last weekend because of the oil spill. Venues will be finalized by tomorrow. The knockout round will start on August 16.
