TREBLE WINNERS San Juan Jabloteh are seeking to renew their dominance on youth stage when the Youth Pro League 2016 kicks off today.

The young “San Juan Kings” begins their defence at the San Juan North Secondary School Ground, where they will host Police FC in the Under-14, Under- 16 and Under-18/Reserve divisions from 10 am, 2 pm and 4 pm respectively.

Last season Jabloteh made a clean sweep, winning the Under- 13, Under-15 and Under-17 divisions while North East Stars were runners-up in the U-15s and U-17s but bottom of the table in the U-13s. Jabloteh’s fierce rivals W Connection took the third place finish at the U-13s, U-15s and U-17s.

“We are looking for history again,” said Jabloteh technical director and coach Keith Jeffrey.

“We made history in winning the club’s first ever treble at the youth level, now we want to make history again in doing it consecutively.

“The treble was a success. It invited new parents and players to want to be part of Jabloteh. We want this to continue - we want to continue bringing that success.

We train at Aranguez Ground and its easy access to everyone on the east-west corridor and we want to continue to attract players with good discipline and good football to the club. We see the effect of the treble and we are hungry for the repeat.”

Anthony “Dada” Wickham, who led the Jabloteh U-13s last season, continues as U-14 coach; Dave Weeks, who led the U-17s last season and returns following a stint as WASA FC assistant coach in the Super League, joined Dave Quamina as coaches of the U-16 team; while former St Ann’s Rangers coach and Jabloteh assistant coach Gilbert Bateau has been installed as coach of the U-18/Reserve team.

Also today in U-14, U-16 and U-18/Reserve divisions, Defence Force will host North East Stars at Trinity College East in Trincity and Morvant Caledonia United will welcome Point Fortin Civic at Maracas Recreation Ground in St Joseph.

W Connection and Club Sando teams will meet at Gilbert Park in Couva, and Central FC will host St Ann’s Rangers at New Settlement Ground in Chaguanas.
