Ronaldo Beckles scored the deciding goal just 15 minutes into the match to give Tunapuna Titans a 2-1 win over Cap Off Youths in the National Youth League (NYL) at Constantine Park, Macoya on Saturday.

Liam Burns opened the scoring for the Titans in the 12th minute just minutes before Beckles put the side two goals the better up to half time. Almost 15 minutes into the second half, Keston John scored for Cap Off Youths to keep the side in the match at 2-1.

However, the scoring ended and the Titans dropped Cap Off Youths to their first loss of the campaign. Despite the loss, Cap Off Youths will meet St Clair Coaching School of Tobago in the first U-13 semifinal next Saturday. Isaiah Lee, who has had an outstanding season thus far for Santa Rosa impressed again with four goals against Club Sando in Santa Rosa’s 8-1 demolition.

Another player who impressed through the season, John-Paul Rochford was again on target in the match. Akeem Hosten netted a double while Romario Williams netted the other goal for Santa Rosa.

Santa Rosa will meet Tunapuna Titans in the second semifinal on Sunday at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya. In the U-15 division, top placed Santa Rosa got the better of Moruga FC 2-1 at Youth Training Centre, Arouca. Ronande Charles gave Moruga the perfect start scoring in the 15th minute. The lead was short lived, however, as Deyshawn Edwards replied in the 19th to keep the two teams equal.

Midway through the second half, Kishun Seecharan put Santa Rosa in the lead; one which would hold until the final whistle.

Second placed teams in the two U-15 groups, Eagles United and Club Sando were scheduled to play at the Woodford Lodge, Chaguanas as was QPCC and Cap Off Youths at Diego Martin Secondary School. However, both Eagles and QPCC were unable to field a team which resulted in both sides losing 3-0 by default.

The U-15 semifinals will also take place this weekend. On Saturday, Moruga will battle Stokely Vale at the Marvin Lee Stadium at 2 pm and on Sunday, Santa Rosa takes on Club Sando at the same venue at 10.30 am.

Today, Club Sando and Cap Off Youths will play their rescheduled final U-17 group stage match at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella at 2 pm. With a win, Club Sando will leapfrog Joe Public FC at the top of Group B. Five U-17 playoff matches will follow on Sunday at various venues around the country.
