Avery John started and played in only one game in the current World Cup
qualifying campaign prior to last Saturday’s 2-0 win over Panama. But
having stuck it out for a courageous performance, he could well be a
fixture in the team after getting the thumbs up from coach Leo

win over St Vincent and the Grenadines last November.

Trinidad and Tobago head coach Leo Beenhakker is not hiding from the
fact that Mexico is a stronger team than the “Warriors” but he is
sticking by his belief that Dwight Yorke and his teammates will by no

NATIONAL football coach Leo Beenhakker lauded the efforts of his
players in Saturday’s 2-0 triumph over Panama in the CONCACAF World Cup
final round qualifier at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo. “When
you win you feel good,” said Beenhakker during the post-match news
conference. “I have to congratulate the players because we only had
five days together and we did a lot of preparation. “They showed this
afternoon that they’re playing like a real team and it’s a great result
for us because it means we’re still in the race for third place (in the
six-team group) at the moment,” Beenhakker continued.
