Trinidad and Tobago's senior footballers had a double session yesterday as they get set for tomorrow's 2006 World Cup qualifier against St Vincent and the Grenadines at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Port of Spain.

Despite the absence of Glawgow Rangers defender Marvin Andrews, who was scheduled to return last night, and Anthony Rougier, stranded in London, coach Bertille St Clair said he was able to have a good enough work-out with his players which saw Wrexham striker Hector Sam and late call-up Scott Sealy being put through their paces, with both men likely to take up the responsibility of banging in the goals with ace Coventry City striker Stern John out.

North East Stars' Jerren Nixon and Errol McFarlane, having both netted in the campaign already, will no doubt be looking to add to their tally as well.

"We had another intense session and that was important because it really was the first one with most of the players," St Clair told Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (T&TFF) media officer Shaun Fuentes.

"Everytime you go into a game, you go to win. We are not going for a walk in the park and actually they said they are coming to give us some 'Vincy heat', so we have to be prepared to cool them down. As a team, we need to continue growing and this match will be part of that process."

St Clair has no fear about the goalscoring department, even with John, T&T's topscorer with six goals, out of this match.

"We will miss a player like Stern, but his absence also gives us a chance to see someone else. I think one of the other guys can now use this chance to step up. We have other guys like Avery who can fit the role on the left, especially after we lost (Marlon) Rojas through injury and then young Scott Sealy is also back in the team, so it's another chance to see him play. I always advocate that he is going to be a good one. He likes to work hard and he runs well off the ball," said St Clair, who will conduct a final session at the Hasely Crawford Stadium today.

The Vincentians, under former T&T coach Zoran Vranes, warmed up with a 6-2 win over Grenada on Sunday. They arrived in Trinidad yesterday and trained at the stadium.

T&T-based North East Stars winger Kendall Velox was on the scoresheet along with Wesley John, Kenlyn Gonsalves, Benford Joseph and a Marlon James double.
