josh johnsonRhyl star Josh Johnson has gained a Senior Call-Up to the Trinidad and Tobago National Team after a dazzling start to life in the Principality Welsh Premier League.

The Soca Warriors Manager Francisco Maturana contacted the Lilywhites today and he has been called up for the forthcoming 2010 CONCACAF Group A World Cup Qualifier against Cuba in the Capital City of Port of Spain. The match will be played on Wednesday 19th November, so he will be missing for the Lilywhites' visit to the Airfield on the Friday for the League fixture against Airbus UK Broughton.

The Caribbean Nation are currently second in their Group, trailing the USA and their opponents are bottom of the Group of four. The two sides met in August in Havana, and the Soca Warriors won 3-1.

Johnson will link up with other British-based players such as Sunderland's Dwight Yorke and Kenwyne Jones, Swansea's Jason Scotland and Crewe defender Dennis Lawrence. The recognition is excellent news for the 27-year old who was never called-up to the Senior Team whilst at the Racecourse.

He was born in Carenage, in West Trinidad and played for San Juan Jabloteh in his native country for six years. He represented Trinidad and Tobago at the FIFA Under 20 World Qualifying Tournament in 2001 and the 2004 Olympic qualifying series in Mexico, before Denis Smith signed him for Wrexham in August 2006.

T&T are ranked 88th in the current FIFA Rankings and played at the last World Cup in Germany 2006, where they played in the same group as England.
