T&T team in training.Out-of-contract players Dennis Lawrence and Stern John were among five overseas players who linked up with the Soca Warriors squad in a morning training session at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar, yesterday.

T&T is preparing for two important 2010 Concacaf Final Round World Cup qualifiers, on June 6 against Costa Rica at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Bacolet, Tobago and four days later away to Mexico in Mexico City.

The other overseas players who were part of the session held by national coach Russell Latapy included Swansea City striker Jason Scotland, Walsall goalkeeper Clayton Ince and Silvio Spann of Conference team, Wrexham. It was the first session for the five England-based players under coach Latapy, who took over the position after Colombian Francisco Maturana resigned on April 8. Arrangements are also being put in place for the overseas players to train with some of the clubs and have private gym training sessions to keep their match fitness ahead of Latapy’s next session on May 20.

The other overseas-based players expected to join the team are captain Dwight Yorke and his Sunderland FC team-mates Carlos Edwards and Kenwyne Jones, Marvin Andrews (Raith Rovers), Collin Samuel (St Johnstone) and Khaleem Hyland (Zulte Waregem). The entire T&T squad inclusive of all the overseas players, journeys to Tobago on May 23 for its final match preparations ahead of the Costa Rica clash.
