Peter Vermes, technical director and coach of the Kansas City Wizards, as well as his assistant Octavio Zambrano, will be in Trinidad and Tobago from December 1-7, as guests of the Arima-based football club 1st FC Santa Rosa.

The duo will be here to scout for footballing talent for their American Major League Soccer (MLS) club, for the 2011 season and beyond.

According to a media release, “1st FC Santa Rosa has organised a series of trial matches to be played at the University of Trinidad and Tobago campus at O’Meara.

“These matches will include young players from Trinidad and Tobago, the wider Caribbean and Africa.”

A number of past and present national youth players are expected to be part of the trial games, including midfielder Jean-Luc Rochford and defenders Akeem Adams and Aubrey David, who were all part of two FIFA Youth World Cups — the 2007 Under-17 event in South Korea and the 2009 Under- 20 version in Egypt.

Striker Jamal Clarence, who was also a member of the Trinidad and Tobago Under-20 squad at Egypt, W Connection forward Matthew Bartholomew and 2009 Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) Player of the Year, midfielder Jevaughn Vance, are also due to feature in the trial matches.
