Championship Division newcomer, St Francois Girls’ College upset Maple Leaf International 3-1 to secure its second win in the North Zone of the BGTT Secondary Schools Girls Football League yesterday.
St Francois were promoted to the Championship Division after winning the senior U-19 Girls League, Knockout and National titles last year. Dhaakira Solomon, Kelly Cooper and Asha Jones saw St Francois home, while Dominique Campbell scored Maple Leaf’s lone item.
Akeisha De La Rosa and Samantha Kissoon starred for defending champion Providence, both netting hat-tricks in a 7-1 mauling of St Joseph’s Convent at the St Mary’s College Grounds, St Clair.
Britney Farah was the other scorer. The win was the second in as many games for Providence, while the usually formidable St Joseph’s girls have lost both of their matches so far.
At Blanchissuese, Malick Secondary got past Blanchissuese Secondary 5-2, as Ariel Drayton and Kayde-Anna Brathwaite scored two a piece for Malick and Rickeisha Telemaque the other goal.
Sherlana Mc Clean and Felicia Baptiste scored for Blanchissuese. In South, national Under-17 mid-fielder, Kayla Taylor netted a quartet, as InterCol, South Zone and Big Five champion, Debe High hammered Fyzabad Anglican 5-0.
U-17 defender, Patrice Vincent scored the last goal. League action kicked off yesterday in Tobago, with Scarborough and Roxborough Secondary playing to a goalless draw, while Karissa Simon scored a hat-trick to see Signal Hill past Speyside 3-1.
