St Francois Girls’ College moved one step closer to the BGTT Secondary Schools Girls’ Football League North Zone title yesterday, with a 4-1 drubbing of St Joseph’s Convent.

Asha Jones scored twice for St Francois, while Della Joseph and Monique Gomez shared one a piece at the Queen’s Royal College Grounds, POS. Amanda Garcia was the lone scorer for St Joseph’s.

St Francois are now a match away from dethroning current champion, Providence Girls, who were held to a goalless draw by Malick Secondary. In South, Point Fortin East moved one step closer to its dream of dethroning InterCol and Big Five champion, Debe High, with a 4-0 victory over Fyzabad Anglican.

National U-17 player, Camille Charles led from the front once more, scoring a hat-trick, while prolific goal scorer Abigail Jacob claimed the other. Debe remained unbeaten, getting past Pleasantville 3-0.

The South champion will now be decided on Thursday between Debe and Point Fortin East as both teams have secured maximum points from their matches.

Defending Tobago champion, Scarborough Secondary succumbed to its second consecutive defeat to Signal Hill Secondary. Khadijha Khaliq and Daydre James both got their names on the scorecard as the match finished 2-0. Bishop’s High also got the better of Speyside Secondary 1-0. Matches continue on Thursday.
