Fatima College turned back old rivals St Mary's College 3-0 in their 2005 BG T&T Secondary Schools Football League North Zone clash at Fatima's Mucurapo Road ground to maintain their unbeaten run after three matches.

Fatima also put some distance between themselves and defending champions Mucurapo Senior Comprehensive thanks to Malick Senior Comprehensive, who defeated 'Compre' 1-0 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium to leave them on three points from as many games. And QRC are alone in second spot after a 3-1 win over Tranquility gave them their second win in two matches.

Fatima had two goals from Makesi Lewis in the first half, and a Chad De Freitas strike early after the restart to cruise to a victory over the 'Saints'. With the home team in full control of the midfield, St Mary's opted for flank play, distributing up the left and crossing into the middle, which proved largely ineffective.

Fatima went ahead after 22 minutes through Lewis, who collected the ball down the centre of the field, and ran past the onrushing St Mary's 'keeper Michael Amoroso before placing in an open net. And three minutes later he doubled the advantage, running onto a long ball and heading over the advancing Amoroso for a 2-0 score, which remained to the interval.

In the second period St Mary's had barely settled into the game when De Freitas ran onto a pass just to the left of the 18-metre box, and held off a defender until he could make enough room to slot to Amoroso's left.

In the 55th minute of the match, Fatima winger Zeron Forte was sent off after successive strong tackles in the second period, his second yellow card coming after he took down Veer Lakhan-Joseph.

St Mary's just could not find space in the Fatima defence but did have a great chance in the 89th minute. Qian Grovesnor found himself free on the right, and his shot forced a fine save out of the largely untroubled Adrian Foncette in Fatima's goal.

But the match ended 3-0 in Fatima's favour.
