Robert Primus is leading an 18-member Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) All Star team in Jamaica where they are scheduled to play two matches against the hosts’ All Star Secondary Schools team.

The games are due to take place on Monday and Wednesday while the TT lads, who left for Jamaica on Thursday, are expected to return home on December 20.

Primus, who captained Malick during this year’s SSFL season, is one of seven members of the Trinidad and Tobago team which participated in the 2007 FIFA Under-17 World Cup in South Korea.

Primus, a natural defender who played in the midfield for his school team, will be joined by utility player Daneil Cyrus of Mason Hall, defender Akeem Adams of Presentation San Fernando, midfielder Kevin Molino of Mucurapo, striker Marcus Joseph of Vessigny and the Fatima pair of defender Sheldon Bateau and forward Stephen Knox.

Naparima, the national Intercol princes, has three selections – captain Sherrick Hilaire, fellow central defender Isiah Smith and TT Under-15 midfielder Shahdon Winchester, while Big 5 winners San Juan also has three picks — captain and influential playmaker Elijah Manners, forward Neil Mitchell and defender Jamal Spencer.

Completing the team are Carapichaima’s long-serving captain Trent Lougheed, Mikel Williams of St Anthony’s, Jerome Williams of Scarborough and the goalkeeping pair of Malick’s Joseph Baird and St Benedict’s Kareem Gray.

The selection committee focused exclusively on the players participating in the respective SSFL Championship Divisions (North, South, East, Central and Tobago), hence the non-inclusion of any member of North Zonal Intercol winners St Mary’s.

But the most notable omissions from the team are El Dorado’s Jamaal Gay, who single-handedly carried his team to the national Intercol final, fellow lanky forward Akeem Bailey of Malick, goalkeeper Kevin Mussio of St Anthony’s and Carapichaima’s Jeffon Cornwall.

Naparima’s successful coach Shawn Cooper will guide the team during their stay in Jamaica with Malick’s Sterling Figaro as his assistant. Completing the technical staff are manager Anthony Creed, assistant manager Bryan Williams, physiotherapist Earl Joseph and SSFL official Lawrence Seepersad.
