East Mucurapo Secondary will play the St Anthony's College's "Tigers" tomorrow for a place in the final of the North Zone of the Coca Cola InterCol after cruising past Trinity College 2-0 at St Anthony's Westmoorings ground yesterday.
Kaejay Ramdoo and Jabari Thomas netted a goal each in either half to make "Compre's" place in the semi-finals sure, after the teams were forced to postpone their encounter from Wednesday, when they did not have enough officials to play the match.
Trinity were always chasing the match after Ramdoo knocked in his shot past Trinity goalkeeper Evin Ramadeen in the 14th minute. And Mucurapo had the upper hand for most of the first half.
But after the break, Mucurapo struggled to maintain that dominance. Their usual short passing game was not in effect, and in some ways, Trinity did look better when they had the ball on the ground.
Still they failed to threaten the goal enough, which is where Trinity proved superior all match long. Mucurapo should have gone 2-0 up since the 52nd minute, but the diminutive Jerimain Williams was blocked by Ramadeen from close range.
Trinity did show some fight, Dylon King stinging the palms of Mucurapo goalkeeper Dwayne Thomas as he stretched to keep out a 25-metre bullet.
And twice Jameel Neptune should have put Trinity level, especially when granted a chance at the near post after the goalkeeper missed the ball, but Damion Bright cleared off the line in the 80th.
Still, Mucurapo kept plugging away in an effort to finish off the match. They finally achieved this in the 88th via the boot of Thomas, who had enough time to pick his spot even after hesitating, once Ramdeen had committed himself to save from Mucurapo substitute Tafari Willams.
