FOUR GOALS from Jo Marie Lewis, Trinidad and Tobago's 2010 FIFA Women's Under-17 World Cup striker, and another from senior national striker Tamar Watson gave Step by Step a 5-1 victory over St. Ann's Rangers when the First Division of the Trinidad and Tobago Women's League Football (TT WoLF) kicked off with a series of well contested matches on the weekend.
Matches were played in the North, East and South/Central Zones on Saturday and Sunday.
Lewis scored in the 37th, 40th, 45th and 83rd, while Watson netted from the penalty spot in the 74th after Lewis got fouled. Rangers were able to get a consolation goal in the 80th from Sharain Cummings. Lewis had her way with the young players and all of her goals came from her individual skill.
Lewis, Watson, Jemilia Mathlin and captain Ahkeela Mollon are just a few of the marquee players that have committed to new club Step by Step.
Step by Step were a player short from the 17th minute when Chelcy Ralph was shown the red card for an off the ball incident. Still, the more experienced Step by Step players dominated, and young Rangers goalkeeper Tenesha Palmer was forced to make some brilliant saves.
In the east, St Augustine Sports Club scored a 3-1 win over Arima Giants.
The first half was evenly contested, although St. Augustine went ahead in the 10th minute with a goal from former national player Jennel Kissoon. Kissoon netted again in the 25th, and Denisha O'Brien made it 3-0 in the 35th, before Asha Charles gave Giants an 80th minute consolation item.
