After its nearest challenger, the reigning champion, Real Dimension succumbed to its second defeat yesterday, Malick City finished match day six as leader of the Women’s League Football (WoLF) Premier Division, after securing another big win a day prior.

On Saturday, Malick City enjoyed its fifth win in as many matches this season, after the club brought down St Ann’s Rangers’ women’s team 6-1, at the Maracas Recreation Ground, St Joseph.

Emarie Holland scored a hat-trick with goals in the 12th, 80th and 90th minutes, while Akeela Oliver (17th), Shanelle Young (21st) and Rhonique Alexander (71st) also kept their excellent form with goals in between the hat-trick hero. The onslaught ensued following St Ann’s early break from Analisa Traboulay, who opened the fifth minute. Malick too, would celebrate its separation at the top of the standings with a match in hand.

A win for the 2012 treble winner Real Dimension, would have seen the club stay level on points with Malick City, despite losing one match this season, but the team faltered to a narrow 3-2 loss to Trincity Nationals, at the Bellvue, Dibe, Dundonald Hill Recreational Ground, Long Circular Road. Yet again on the scoresheet for Trincity, was Shanelle Arjoon, who bagged a double, while her sister and national team-mate Jinelle Arjoon got the other goal. Dimension’s two goals came from Alania Burgin and Janine Francois.

Yesterday’s only other fixture saw St Augustine and Tobago WFC play to a goalless draw.

On Saturday, the national Under-17 women’s team got its second win in five matches with a 3-0 victory over rock-bottom Defence Force. Jasandra Joseph, Jahra Thomas and Denicia Prince all scored first half goals to slump Defence Force to its fifth loss of the campaign.
