The Lady Sharks bounced back from a 3-0 opening round defeat to St. Ann's Rangers by shooting down Real Dimension 2-0 on Saturday 31st May 2014. In the opening round loss, the Lady Sharks looked disorganized and were constantly picked apart by their opponents who were excellent on the night.

At New Settlement Ground though, against the WoLF defending champions, Real Dimension, the Sharks seemed a completely different team. Coach George Romano made a few changes to the personnel as well as the tactics and it appeared to pay dividends from the get go. The back four were marshaled by new recruit Candice Shields, one of two signings from the USA. The other signing, Shannon Walisch played just in front of the defence to allow fellow midfielders Anique Walker and Samantha Kissoon to control the flow of the game.

The Lady Sharks started brightly and put the Real Dimension defence under immediate pressure. Striker Verlea Duprey was a thorn in the Dimension side throughout the game and came close to opening the scoring a few times within the first 30 minutes. Her movement and strength wreaked havoc but she had to wait until the 51st minute to be rewarded.

At half time, Kayla Taylor replaced Kissoon and was in the thick of the action from the get go. Taylor attacked Dimension and threaded a clever pass to Duprey in the box who finished with confidence at the near post. It was an excellent move and finish.

That goal, spurred Dimension into action and they immediately tried to respond. Pascall in the Central FC goal produced a fantastic point blank save to preserve the lead, while the rebound was clipped off the crossbar. By this time, the game had opened up and chances were coming fast and furious.

Shields, who was in a no nonsense mood all night, made a few crunching tackles to stop Real Dimension's attacks. Her committed defending alongside Kjelle David, created the platform for Taylor to do what she does best. And that's to attack! Midfield general, Anique Walker played the role of captain fantastic and found Taylor unmarked in the box.

Taylor did not even think twice before burying a first time shot into the net. Lady Sharks were 2-0 up and in full control at this point.   Real Dimension tried to up their game in the final few minutes but it was in vain thanks to our defence and the cross bar in one moment of penalty box melee. It was a massive win for the Lady Sharks and a performance that bodes well for the season.
