Action in the 2015 Trinidad and Tobago Women’s League Football (TT WoLF) is about begin, and the St. Ann’s Rangers FC Women are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to defend their reign as Champions after winning the 2014 title.

The 2015 season was officially launched at the Hasely Crawford Stadium Training Field, on Saturday 9th May, with a parade of teams and prize giving ceremony, which saw Rangers received the Premier Division 1st Place, First Division 3rd Place, and 2014 Premier Division Coach of the Year awards.

Entering the TT WoLF First Division in 2012, The St. Ann’s Rangers FC Women’s Team won the North Zone, and placed 3rd in the Big-8, subsequently gaining promotion to the Premier Division. In the team’s 2013 Premier Division campaign, they earned a 5th placed finish, before entering the 2014 season with two teams – winning the Premier Division and placing 3rd in First Division.

In sharing his thoughts on the teams’ accomplishments, St Ann’s Rangers Women’s Head Coach, Jason Spence, who is the assistant coach for the National Senior and Under-20 teams, said, “Winning the title in just three years in the competition, moving from First Division to Premier, is certainly an accomplishment I am pleased about, but more so it is being able to field two teams in the tournament and the development of the younger players.”

St. Ann's Rangers will again be fielding two teams, however, for the 2015 season a reformatted competition structure has been introduced by the TT WoLF.

There will be one Division of play, with no relegation or promotion as in previous years. Twenty teams will be split into three groups – according to their geographical location – with two North/East Groups, and one South/Central Group. Team will play each other once in their respective Groups, before the top two advance to a “Big-Six” where they will battle for the league title.

Speaking on the new season, the 2014 WoLF Premier Division Coach of the Year continued by saying, “I look forward to the upcoming season with passion, desire, and humility. I continue to stress the importance of good preparation and discipline to my teams.” Coach Spence concluded by stating, “This [good preparation and discipline] is what brought us our accomplishment, together with the family we have built at Rangers Women. Preparation has been good so far, and the team is all geared up to defend the title.”

In North East Group 1, one Rangers team will face St. Augustine F.C., Trincity Nationals, Tobago Chicas, Defence Force and the U17 Women’s Team. In North East Group 2, the ladies will take on Queen’s Park CC, Malvern FC, Real Dimension, Net Shakers, Diego Martin, as well as Northern Rush FA.
