Clubs will learn the status of the league as the T&T Football Federation (TTFF) has mandated a special committee, headed by national senior coach, Jamaal Shabazz, to organise a Women’s League Football (WoLF) Classic.

Coaches of the various clubs, last Friday expressed their frustration at the federation’s delay in calling a meeting to organise a league, especially in light of the second Fifa Under-17 Women’s World Cup being held in T&T this year. The 16-team World Cup tournament will be held from September 5-25.

According to Shabazz and Jabloteh Chief Executive Officer, Azaad Mohammed-Khan, there will be a competition which will run for two months beginning in July to compensate for the league.

“The clubs and the girls will be very happy that they have a competition to play in,” explained Mohammed-Khan, who was very vocal on the issue.

Shabazz expressed his pleasure at the initiative, explaining, “The fact that I have been asked by the TTFF to assist in putting together a tournament for the clubs means that we are going to move forward.”

The two-month long competition will be open to all local women clubs and a meeting among coaches, is scheduled for next Saturday, during which the league fixtures are expected to be decided.
