PREMIER DIVISION clubs Youth Stars United and Black Rock had to depend on penalties to advance to the semi-finals of the FA Cup in the Tobago Football Association.

In quarter-final action at Canaan on Tuesday, Division One team Carnbee/Mt Pleasant held Black Rock to a 1-1 regulation time draw with a goal by Navelle Roach to tie Anton Cruickshank’s strike.

But Black Rock triumphed 4-3 on penalties to move ahead.

At Mt Pleasant, it was another 1-1 scoreline between Premier Division team Youth Stars and Championship Division team Golden Lane.

Akeil Thomas got the goal for the Youth Stars while Kyron Grant knotted up the game for Golden Lane.

But in the penalty shootout Youth Stars topped their rivals 4-3 to grab a semi-final spot. Roxborough Lakers won the battle of Premier Division teams, beating Lambeau 3-1 at Mt Pleasant.

Grevon Crooks lashed in a double and Sellon Gray got the other for the winners while Darreon Moses got the consolation. And Ronald John’s double was enough to give Premier Division team Bethel United a 2-0 shut out of Championship Division team Signal Hill United at Canaan.

In all-Premier Division semi-final action tomorrow, Bethel United will meet Black Rock from 5 pm, while Youth Stars play Roxborough Lakers from 7 pm. Both games will be played at the Cyd Gray Complex.
